The Converting Manager will lead a team of 40 employees in the Die-cutting and Finishing departments of our St. Paul Consumer Packaging (folding carton) facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position will serve as a member of the site leadership team and directly influence business results. The position is intended to be an introduction to leadership at GPI, as many promotional opportunities are available as you progress in your career.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and manages operations to achieve safety, productivity, and financial goals consistent with plant and divisional objectives.

  • Identifies cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in support of Lean/Six Sigma efforts.

  • Identifies capital improvement projects for the operation and provides project management support.

  • Manages KPIs in safety, quality, productivity, and employee development.

  • Ensures production operations are conducted in a safe clean working environment that complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Responsible for maintaining inventories and expenditures within budgeted levels.

  • Overall responsibility for maintenance of equipment and coordinates maintenance requirements to minimize operational impact.

  • Works effectively with all department management to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals.

  • Directly involved in responsibilities/actions related to Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.

  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.

  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.

  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, & Experience

  • Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.

  • Must be quality-conscious and customer-oriented.

  • Must possess the ability to develop improvements, and achieve budget via production control, cost constraints, etc.

  • A four-year college degree in management, business, finance, or similar, and/or equipment-specific experience in the folding carton industry is preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience is required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.

Pay Range: $76,860.00 - $102,480.00
