JOB SUMMARY
Maintain operation of paper cup machines producing paper cups or tubs. Duties include: cleaning machines and surroundings, starting and stopping finishers, loading blanks on to finishers and loading bottom stock on to finishers.
WORK DEVICES
Needle nose pliers, putty knives, paper towels, rags, spray bottles, compressed air guns, utility knife, broom, mop, ergo tug, and other various hand tools.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner.
Actively engaged, involved, and current in SWO process; Participate in safety meetings and safety tours.
Ensure production of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards.
Load blanks on paper cup finishers.
Operate Ergo tug to move blank carts. Assist Lead Operator in retrieving and returning blank carts.
Assist the Quality department in sorting through finished product at our distribution center.
Relieve Cup Packers during break and lunch periods. Assist Material Handler and Padlocker Operator, as required.
Help maintain bottom stock ink jet printers
Stop, start and monitor operation of machines, checking fluids and maintaining cleanliness, ensuring machines continue running properly.
Make minor adjustments to solve possible defects. If adjustments do not solve the defect, communicate with the Lead Operator.
Remove excess damaged paper stock from the machine tops and clears bottom paper stock from scrap tube.
Empty spoilage boxes from both side wall stock and bottom stock continuously during the shift.
Assist Lead Operators in servicing the machine with glue, mineral oil or silicone required for proper operation.
Assist Lead Operator with quality checks on product: fiber teardown, print, scuffs, and proper date code
Move, place, and thread bottom stock and safely secure to finisher with minimum waste
Record mineral oil usage for machines you are responsible for (total used per shift)
Complete a machine operator finishing rounds checklist prior to the end of the shift
Notify Shift Supervisor or Group Leader of problems that arise beyond the scope of Cup Operator’s duties.
Maintain 5S in assigned area. Maintain work system tools.
Actively participate in daily team production meetings and communicate key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement.
Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, i.e. basic cleaning of machine, etc.
Ensure that all equipment meets safety standards and is checked routinely throughout the shift
Once qualified, instruct and train others.
Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met.
Communicate effectively with oncoming shift.
Fulfill overtime requirements necessary to ensure production requirements are met.
Assist in other areas or perform other duties, as assigned.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Basic mechanical background and skill to perform technical tasks; Able to use hand tools properly and safely.
Successful completion of the skills assessment process at Lake Land.
Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment: Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision: Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation. This includes: Walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours; Lifting to 50lbs; Lowering 30lbs from a height of 4 feet; Carrying to 30 lbs.; Visual acuity and depth perception; Working in various temperatures & humidity levels.
