OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Carol Stream, IL team. This job posting is for a Die Cutting Operator with a pay of 26.73/hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases. JOB SUMMARY: Die cutting operators must Perform manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance and operations of the Bobst Die Cutter. Responsible for the safety of crew, quantitative and qualitative die cutter performance. They must understand and align business operations and cutting department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
Make-ready, adjust and run job as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards.
Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications and special die cutting instructions
Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects
Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
Ensure information is communicated between shifts
Ensure Company Safety, Quality and Production standards are met
Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter
Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery, entering confined spaces and climbing ladders.
Must input information into computer for proper tracking of inventory and waste.
Occasional bending, reaching, twisting and stooping
Occasional squatting and kneeling for cleaning and clearing jams
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
Manufacturing experience preferred
Experience working in a medium to large format is preferred
1-3 years running a BOBST Die Cutter is strongly preferred
Strong Mechanical aptitude/skills
Requires experience running, troubleshooting and quality control
Ability to work under minimal supervision, understand technical written (and verbal) instructions, set-up the die cutter, and carry out instructions
Strong computer skills required
Strong math skills required
Ability to accurately distinguish color variation
Must be able to work other shifts if needed and perform overtime work as required
Ability to talk with customers, in person, on a daily basis explaining the technical operation of the Die Cutting process and leaving the customer with a positive professional impression (Customer visits)
Good Verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to speak, read and write English.
In depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of die cutting press
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.
Must be willing and able to work overtime.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
Routine Lifting up to 30 lbs.
Occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Push/pull pallet jack with up to 60lb of push load.
Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
